Following the trend that encourages communities to shop local and eat local, the library has a day each spring where we encourage you to meet local authors and then take the opportunity to truly read local. It is a full day of events and a great chance to meet the local literati.
Local Author Day (Saturday, Mar. 24, 10 am) is in its 4th year and it is bigger and better than ever with more than 40 authors taking part in the festivities. This is a day where local authors get a chance to shine and share their talent with the community.
The day begins at 10 am with a chance for writers to hone their writing skills and time management skills in back-to-back workshops that will have lots of great advice for authors and aspiring authors. Scott Morgan, author of “Character Development from the Inside Out,” will lead a workshop on character development for fiction writers and Karen Miller, author of “Finish Your Book! A Time Management Guide for Writers” , discusses time management for writers. No need to be published to attend, just click here to register!
The author fair begins at 1 pm with 40+ authors displaying and selling their books in our community room. You will have a chance to stroll around the room, chat with the authors, collect autographs on the books you purchase and support the efforts of local writers. There will also be readings from 1-4 pm in our front lobby. We have three featured authors this year and they will each read for approx. 15 minutes and 11 authors chosen by lottery will each read for approximately 5 minutes.
