We invite you to check out this month’s PPL Youth Services recommendations for activities, resources and new books in the library collection for children up to 5 years old and their families.
Native American Heritage Month Picture Books
Celebrate Native American Heritage Month this November with this selection of picture books for young children that highlight the Native American experience, storytellers, history and culture. You can also join us in the Virtual Story Room as we celebrate and share books created by Native American authors and illustrators.
Storytime With Jeff at Lillipies Bakery
Join local storyteller Jeff Trainor from jaZams Toy and Book Store for an in-person, interactive storytime outside Lillipies Bakery in Princeton Shopping Center every Sunday morning at 10 a.m. As long as the weather cooperates, Jeff will be offering his lively, outdoor storytime until the Sunday before Thanksgiving. And don’t forget that the library also continues to offer Outdoor Storytime on the Princeton Shopping Center courtyard green every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 10 am (weather permitting) through Nov. 18.
Annual Tree Lighting in Palmer Square
Come kick off the holiday season on the Green at Palmer Square and watch as the town lights all 32,000 lights atop the square’s 65-foot-tall Norwegian Spruce. It’s always fun to catch a glimpse of Santa as he makes his appearance at this festive annual family-friendly event. You never know where he might pop up! Friday, Nov. 26, at 5 p.m.
“We Give Thanks” by Cynthia Rylant
Two beloved picture book creators team up in this wonderful, new picture book all about gratitude. Sharing this book together is a great way to reflect on what we are thankful for. We’ll also be featuring this book during Storytime Shorts, premiering Nov. 23 and available thereafter for on-demand viewing.
Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child podcast
Looking for some good ole’ rock ‘n’ roll that’s also kid-friendly? It’s no secret that one of the best ways to cure the grumps in little ones (and big ones, too) is a spontaneous dance party at home. If you don’t have time to create your own playlist of music, check out the beloved, self-described “indie music for indie kids” podcast, Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child, a weekly, hour-long rockin’ family-friendly program.
