We invite you to check out this month’s PPL Youth Services recommendations for activities, resources and new books in the library collection for children up to five years old and their families.

Halloween costumes are encouraged.
Family Fun Fall Weekends at Terhune Orchards
Visit Terhune Orchards this fall to celebrate the harvest season with farm fun, fresh air and great music. Family Fun Fall Weekends are Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m., rain or shine, until the weekend of Oct. 30-31. Included in admission are live music, barnyard, nature trail, adventure barn, pedal tractor area, hay bale maze, corn maze, painting pumpkins, and sunflower trail. Online timed admission tickets must be purchased in advance to maintain social distancing and extra safety precautions due to COVID-19. If your weekends are booked, the farm is open during weekdays all year.
Hispanic Heritage Month Picture Books
Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, celebrates the varied histories and cultures of people from Hispanic and Latin-American backgrounds. We’ve gathered some recent picture book titles that highlight the Hispanic experience, storytellers and artists, and history and culture in this booklist. You can also join us in the Virtual Story Room as we celebrate and share books created by Hispanic and Latinx authors and illustrators.
Monster Clothes by Daisy Hirst
This monstrously adorable and funny board book is a must to share with your toddler who loves to dress themselves. The silly clothing combinations (including wearing things that are not necessarily clothes) will make you both giggle. Who knew little monsters could be such creative fashionistas?
This fun new take on the haunted house is a perfect read for the spookiest time of year. How do you make a haunted house a haunted home? Share this not-so-scary book with your own little ghoul to find out.
