Artist Bio

Nearly 90% of flowering plants rely on about 200,000 species of animal pollinators for fertilization. “Pollination Investigation” explores the who, what, when, where, why and how of pollination, and the essential role that pollinators play in the natural world. The exhibition includes profiles on types of pollinators, including bees, beetles, butterflies, hummingbirds, flies, moths and the wind, with special references to bats and water. The poster exhibition is bilingual with all information provided in both English and Spanish.

Book and resource lists exploring pollinators and wildflowers have been curated by our staff for both kids and adults. Take and Make Kits with crafts relating to pollinators will be available for kids on our third floor on April 8 and May 6, and packets of wildflower seeds for planting will be handed out on the first floor from May 1-7 to celebrate National Wildflower Week.

In addition, a series of events to coincide with both this exhibition and the national #PlantWildflowers initiative has been planned by library staff to highlight the importance of pollinators in maintaining a healthy planet and to encourage our community to help create pollinator-friendly habitats.
