Check out this month’s recommendations for upcoming events at the library and around town, and new picture books for children up to 5 years old and their families, curated by the Youth Services department.
Friends Of the Library Children’s Book Sale
Don’t miss this one-day gently used book sale presented by the Friends of Princeton Public Library. Children’s books will be the main feature, and all proceeds help add new books to the library’s collection. Sunday, Dec. 8, 1-5:30 p.m., Community Room.
There isn’t a more perfect gift for a young child (or anyone!) than a book. This special story time at the library will feature new picture books to share with your family or give as gifts. A booklist of new books that would make great gifts for children will be available to take home. Saturday, Dec. 14, 10:30 a.m., Story Room.
Too young to stay up until midnight? Join us for a celebration on New Year’s Eve in the Story Room from 11:30 until noon. As we count down to noon, we will have music, dancing and crafts. For children ages 3 and up.
“A Big Bed For Little Snow” by Grace Lin
This is a gorgeous follow-up to Lin’s 2018 Caldecott Honor book, “A Big Mooncake For Little Star.” Meet Little Snow! When winter comes, Mommy makes a soft bed for Little Snow to sleep on, but each night he cannot resist jumping on the bed, causing tiny feathers to fly down. But are they feathers, or are they feathery snowflakes? A snuggly book to share with your preschooler this winter.
“Peek-a-Who Too?” By Elsa Mroziewicz
A board book that’s a triangle! This follow-up to “Peek-a-Who” is full of hidden animals, each making different sounds. Can you figure out who each one is? Lift the unique shaped flaps to see who peeks out! Babies and toddlers are sure to be delighted by these colorful, noisy creatures.
